My dad got 17 months of resignation time. He'd work at Aker Solutions for 1 and a half years before he'd have to leave so he could look for another job.
He told his boss that his salary was the only salary feeding an entire family of 4, and that with his education he'd have a hard time finding a new job. On top of that starting from the top again would be quite harsh.
Anyway, his boss felt sympathy for him. He took it up with his boss again and it "Traveled up the hirearchy"
In the end he got to keep his job, and we'll be fine.
Woop woop.
EDIT:
This means I'm not going anywhere.
