| So our primates have probably been on earth for as long as we have been on it. But why are they not as the same level as us after all these milleniums? I think I have found out why... One thing Darwin said was that only the strongest survive. A part of human nature has made it obligatory for us to develop mentally ahead of our primates! WAR! Think about it... When have you heard of apes having big wars? You can probably go back more then 2000 years and see that humans have battled for a long time. War has made us humans gang up; at the start the gangs may have been really small... But thousands of years later look at this. We have the UN, Soviet union, Koreans and many others. We have become nations, developed languages and most importantly technology. Although if we go with the flow of a 'civilised' peaceful world for thousands of years (forgetting that it's not gonna last that long) what would happen? Would we just stop developing? Or were all these past wars a sign or a calling? Telling us to work further, together and develop not just because we need it desperately to survive but because we have learnt a lesson... But back to primates... You really have to look at humans more then apes to see why they did not develop as much. Another thing war has taught us is communication which technically was the concrete floor to every building, education system and business. So my hypothesis would be what would happen if we sent apes to a planet with the exact same properties of earth but without humans of course and did something to trigger a war... We leave them there for 10 thousand years (not that we will last that long but still...). Would we observe an increase of evolution or would we have the same dumb primates (compared to us) who once a month would think about using a tool to get some food? -Andrei Razoare! PS: If you guys think it's good I might post it on a scientific forum... Also add your other thoughts! I just thought of this today... | |

| We go to war because we disagree... We disagree because we are smarter... If apes were smarter they'd disagree about stuff as well. | |

We disagree because we are smarter... If apes were smarter they'd disagree about stuff as well. I am not saying that apes aren't intelligent enough to disagree. I believe you are very wrong really... If you try to pull food out of and apes hand it will not give it to you. Through body language you are basically saying that you should have that food although the ape DISAGREES by not letting you. They do fight but on a very small scale. Sort of like a family feud... My basic theory would now be that if you put this 'fighting' on a much larger scale - let's say... the different subspecies fighting would be a start...

Take food away from a human and he'll do the same... Well, an ape might bite you, but still... Apes can disagree, but not on a large scale. Animals mark their territories, and if an animal enters the territory it often gets attacked. One animal can't handle an entire continent or more - we are so intelligent that we have invented means of controlling entire countries. Most wars are for land, and if animals could talk with each other and not just give the most basic forms of communication - and also if they are smart enough to disagree about bigger things then food - like racial matters, laws or similar they'd go to war as well.

| Well we did evolve from them. The big 'mystery' is why can't they find the means of large scale disagreement and racial/religious matters? | |

Because they are not developed enough to think out such things. They can't even talk to each other, let alone disagree about something that isn't physical (and physical doesn't mean color)

Maybe a bit off-topic but we did evolve from every animal. Every living creature with blood are all from the same origin. Think of the plants, they don't got any blood? The sheep, the horses, the fish, the birds, they all got red blood... this means that we all have to come from some kinda strange being.

| Interested theory. I think apes didn't develop so well, because evolution didn't give them so much brain capasity. | |
