I just watched Max Manus. Best Norwegian movie of the century. I also watched the Star Trek movie - great stuff. What wasn't great however was Transformers 2 and Terminator: Salvation. Review coming soon.

Ice Age 3 in 3D is pure win!

Max Manus had a very deep and rough character storytelling which could not have been told in a different way. It sways from a harsh reality to exiting sequences. Although effects are good - near perfect, and the camera directing and quality is superb there is one large explosion I'd like to see in the movie (whoever has seen it, knows what was missed)
The sheer fact that it's based of of a real story is intimidating. The action sequences are often well-blended with a low orchestral track which is easy to miss, yet fitting. Acting is superb, despite the Norwegian dialect which is a realistic part of the movie. Therefore I give the movie a 10/10. Perfect.

The Star-Trek movie acts the same way. Whilst acting is superb and the storyline is deep and evolving it has a couple of tiny plot holes. Nothing else to expect from a science fiction movie obviously. A Star Trek fan would appreciate it. This movie is very detailed in that every part of it is polished. As an example when a hull was breached and the artificial gravity vanished sound disappeared.
It's a bit clique and steriotypical, but this is only because it's based off of the 60's movie series. It improves on everything. It's an exiting sci-fi adventure. 9,5/10. Almost perfect!

Transformers was a waste of time. Michael Bay loves explosions (don't we all?) but that's not enough to build a movie around. The times when the movie isn't hurting my ears from the jets, tanks, cars, mechanical things, 100's of explosions and machine gun fire it is just awful. The acting is low-class. There are loads of oddities and a plot does barely exist.
The characters can often become annoying and repetitive. If you are looking for stereotypes you are at the right place.
However, despite it being more of a blob of badly put together clips, it looks pretty. Decepticons, Megatrons and Autobots are amazingly detailed and painstakingly animated to each and every screw.

If you are looking for some pointless action, don't look far. 3,75/10 - Meh of the year.

As for Terminator Salvation I can almost repeat what I said about Transformers, but without the stereotypes and annoying characters.
